Moving on...

I've gone as far as I can go without organizing myself and going back over everything... so I've made a spreadsheet for myself and I'm going to work my way through it.  I've also given myself lots of tasks to get accomplished next time I go down to Arkansas to visit (this summer), so until then, I'm going on to the next branch.  Check out the Wells Family tab at the top of this page.  Until I get anything new....  Thanks for your interest...

Kenneth Farrar

His childhood census is shown here.

I must just really stink at finding people who are still alive.  I can't find anything.  I found a Kenneth Farrar who lived in Pine Bluff in 1993.  Even if that is him, that was 20 years ago.  And it provides no other information other than his name and an address.  Here is what I have for him on my Family Tree Maker... it's not much.

Kenneth Farrar was born in 1931 in Arkansas, USA as the second child of Thomas Elwood (Pudney) Farrar and Ruby Beatrice Sanderlin. He had four siblings, namely: Verneta Corinne, Johnnie Lavon, Delbert E, and James Winston.

Kenneth Farrar lived in Clear Creek, Drew, Arkansas, USA on 01 Apr 1940.

That's it.

*****UPDATE!!!!
I found him!!  With the help of a nice man who was just using google to find Mr Farrar's address,  I not only found him, I talked to him on the phone for over half an hour.  He was awesome and a great source of information to fill in the gaps in his family.  When I come back around to the Farrar branch, I'll be updating this with lots of information from him.  Yay for new cousins!!!

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Bositan; her father, Thomas Elwood Farrar; her mother, Ruby Sanderlin Farrar and her brothers, James Winston Farrar and Johnny Lavon Farrar.
She is survived by brothers, Kenneth Farrar and Delbert Farrar; her son, Dale Bostian; her daughter, Patricia Parrar, and two grandsons.

So I just joined Genealogy Bank (for their 30-day trial), and I'm trying to see what I can find.  The first thing I was looking for I found quickly.  Verneta Corinne's obituary.  While it does list her children's names, I'm afraid I know nothing else.  Two more potential cousins to try to find, but I'm not very good at finding people who are still alive.  And who knows if they even want to be found.  So I'll continue with Verneta's siblings and keep her children in my tree in case more information on them pops up.

Action Items:
1. Continue to look for any information on children.
2. Continue to look for William Bostian's obituary from 1997.

He had been married for nearly two years when he died.  So I want to find his wife in the 1940 Census and see if they had a child before he died, or if she was pregnant.  As of now, I have no children for them.  I'd also like to find out how he died.  There should be something about it in the newspaper.

Action Items:
1. Find Ida Chambless in 1940 to make sure there were no children. (I found her death record and it still shows her name as Ida Farrar, so I'm guessing she never remarried).
2. Find newspaper at the time of his death to see if there is an article.

Frank P Mays and Anna Elizabeth Farrar had no children. I don't know for sure that they didn't have any children, but on the last census I have for her (below), says she is 44 years old and they haven't had any children listed with them.  That doesn't mean that they didn't have any children, it just means that none of them lived to be older than 9 or 10.

Thomas Clay Farrar

Thomas Clay Farrar is my 3xgreatgrandfather. I know that he fought in the Civil War as a Confederate from the State of Arkansas.  I am fairly certain that this is the father of James Thomas Farrar.  I'm hoping that finding his actual pension record and looking at the actual paperwork might shed more light on his children so I can make sure it is him.  Or finding an obituary of some kind for him will help as well.  Until that time, here is his family sheet from Family Tree Maker:

Thomas Clay Farrar was born on 01 Sep 1844 in Perry, Alabama, USA. He died on 07 Mar 1902 in Ashley, Arkansas, USA (Rawls Cemetery). When he was 21, He married Mary Catherine Geddie on 21 Nov 1865 in Ashley, Arkansas, USA.

Thomas Clay Farrar was buried in Ashley, Arkansas, USA (Geddie-Rawls Cemetery).  1870 he lived in Egypt, Ashley, Arkansas, USA He lived in Egypt, Ashley, Arkansas, USA in 1880. He lived in Egypt, Ashley, Arkansas, USA in 1900.  1870 and 1900 Census records are listed below, the other Census record can be looked at by clicking the link.

Thomas Clay Farrar and Mary Catherine Geddie had the following children:

William Harrison Farrar was born on 06 Sep 1866. He died in 1876.  He was 9 or 10 when he died.  I'm sure that whatever happened was written down in the newspaper.
James Thomas Farrar - His pages are here and here.
John Wesley Farrar - done with as much as I have right now.
Robert Eddings Farrar - his page is done, working on his children now.
Walter Emmett Farrar - page coming soon.

James Thomas Farrar - Information

I have all of the previous media files for him listed here.

This page is going to be used to determine who his father was.  I have seen lots of trees that tell me that his father is Thomas Clay Farrar, and while Thomas Clay Farrar does have a son named James, born about the same time as "our" James.  I want to make sure it's the same person.  Here is the 1880 Census that lists Thomas Clay Farrar living in  Egypt, Ashley County, Arkansas.  His oldest son listed is James.  I have done a search for anyone else the same age as James, living in the same area of Arkansas, and I haven't found any other families.  Therefore, I tend to agree with the people who say that James Thomas' father is Thomas Clay Farrar.  I will look for a will/death record for Thomas Clay that may list any of his children or grandchildren, which will give me a better idea. Also, if you are searching for this record on either familysearch.org or ancestry.com you will find that his name has been indexed as "Junior", so don't search for James.

Action Items:
1. Check death records for Thomas Clay Farrar.

James Thomas Benjamin Farrar - Family and Media Files

I do remember my mother saying "Ben Farrar" before, but not much more than that.  There are a few discrepancies that I have just discovered in the two census records I have on him after he left home.  I am doing this whole process because when I started doing genealogy, over 9 years ago, I wasn't very good about citing sources!  This is bad, especially since I now have over 13,000 people in my whole family tree database.  So I'm now trying to go back through each family and check all the sources and fix my previous errors.  So here is the problem.  You will notice if you scroll down and look, that in 1930, he was living with just a wife, and the census record looks like it says Jana M. for her name.  This fits with the information that I have saying that her name was Jennie Mae.  BUT in the 1940 census, it has his wife listed as Sarah.  I'm not sure what the enumerator would've heard them say that he thought was Sarah, but I'm still sure this is the same Ben Farrar that my mother has talked about because the children listed are the same children that my mother used to play with as a child.
Maybe he got remarried and I know nothing of that.  I also can't find the marriage record of Ben and Jennie Mae, so I'm not sure how accurate that information is, except from my mother.  Here's what I have from Family Tree Maker about him:

James Thomas Benjamin Farrar was born on 27 Sep 1903 in Arkansas, USA as the sixth child of James Thomas Farrar and Ethel Melinda Tubbs. He had five siblings, namely: Susan Flovelia, Mary Lelia, Nancy Cornelia, Amelia Carolyn, and Obelia Maggie. He died on 18 Dec 1961 in Ashley, Arkansas, USA. When he was 25, He married Jennie Mae Douglass on 23 Nov 1928.

James Thomas Benjamin Farrar was buried in Hamburg, Ashley, Arkansas, USA (Antioch Cemetery, Ashley, Arkansas, USA). He lived in Egypt, Ashley, Arkansas, USA in 1910. He lived in Elon, Ashley, Arkansas, USA in 1920. The 1910 and 1920 Census records can be seen here.  He lived in Bastrop, Morehouse, Louisiana, USA in 1930. He lived in Morehouse, Louisiana, United States on 01 Apr 1940. 1930 and 1940 Census are below.

James Thomas Benjamin Farrar and Jennie Mae Douglass had the following children:

1. Living Male Farrar was born in Louisiana, USA.
2. Living Female Farrar was born in Louisiana, USA.
